Why We Built This Site
Iowa offers several official access paths, but each custodian answers a different question. The Washington County Sheriff's Records Division keeps sheriff reports and local booking material. The Clerk of District Court handles filed charges, dockets, and dispositions. The Iowa Department of Public Safety, Division of Criminal Investigation supplies the statewide criminal-history product, while Iowa corrections and the Iowa Sex Offender Registry maintain their own records. The site brings those contacts, request steps, portals, and known fees into one reference.

What We Cannot Do
This is a privately run reference site with no connection to an Iowa court, sheriff, police department, or state agency. Its role has firm limits:
- We cannot run an official background check or pull a criminal record for anyone
- We cannot file expungement petitions, records requests, or any other paperwork on your behalf
- We cannot issue certified copies of any criminal record, court document, or rap sheet
- We cannot give legal advice or explain how a specific charge or case applies to you
- We cannot promise that every listed address, fee, hour, or phone number remains current
Only the issuing agency, such as the sheriff, court, or Iowa DCI, can provide an official criminal record. The document must come from its custodian.
